The Eco Cottage
The Eco Cottage is born from Kutira and Raphael’s dreams. This final expression of eco-beauty on the land is the culmination of years of sustainable education and global exploration. It is detailed with exquisite work gathered from Kutira’s travels in the Far East, while the structure is inspired and designed by Raphael to incorporate the exact angles of the Egyptian pyramids (52 degrees; which is believed to amplify thoughts). Environmentally friendly coconut flooring sets the stage for a myriad of cultural artifacts. Gold accented alcoves display sacred works of art from India, Tibet and Bhutan. A carved limestone Tara Goddess graces the stairwell, as varied textures and colorful fabric weave beauty throughout. A skylight (the top of Raphael’s pyramid) in the living room ceiling displays white stone flower carvings, and a mirrored altar makes up the centerpiece of the temple, while expansive windows look out to the ocean. The Indonesian rose marble tiled kitchen boasts a dragon theme. Golden dragon sculptures support the Tamarind plank counter top, dragon pull knobs ornament the drawers and cabinets, and a golden dragon painting embellishes the upper cupboards. The front doorway is designed by Kutira and carved on both sides with ancient tantric images. The bamboo bridge that leads to the home evokes images of Bhutan.
Downstairs, velvety cream colored large marble tiles fill the master bedroom. An intricate teak carving displaying the Eight Auspicious Buddhist symbols shelters an alcove opposite the bed, as a golden yogini watches over your slumber. A Thanka hanging and a vivid mural in the style of Bhutanese temple paintings adorn the room. The master bathroom has a creative two person open air shower in a beautiful bamboo gazebo and a luxurious stone bathtub just around the corner. The chakras are depicted in seven large five-foot mosaic designs surrounding the house.
The Eco Cottage conjures up the sacred nature of existing within temple walls, infusing every moment with meditative awareness and graceful beauty. It is the embodiment living luxuriously in harmony with Mother Nature.
